1st Year

I’m running not only for my health, but for the health of some four legged souls that could use your help. I love my dog Tanner, and I truly believe that during his earlier stages of growth, he was teaching me more than I was teaching him. He came from a litter of 9, and that floppy ear gets me every time. I can’t imagine what life he may have had if we didn’t meet, but more so, I don’t know what my life would be without this guy. I hope you can help me and Tanner raise some funds for his fellow K-9s in the distance.

1st Year

I started running when I moved to Austin – and love every early morning along Town Lake Trail. Austin may be known for its bats, but the animal lovers and pet owners really drive this city. Though I don’t own a dog myself (I have had a few beta fish in my time), I enjoy sharing the trail and taking water breaks at Auditorium Shore with pups of all shapes and sizes. My friend Elisa and I decided to run for Blue Dog Rescue to help raise awareness for the organization and to help animals in serious need. This will be my 2nd time running the Austin Marathon and first opportunity to give back to the Austin community.

2nd Year

Running + Blue Dog! What could be better? I adopted both Rosie and Keith (pictured and that I love dearly) from Blue Dog Rescue. I’ve not run into harder working volunteers with bigger hearts than those with Blue Dog Rescue. Over the years they’ve rescued countless dogs that may not have otherwise had a fair shot at life. I’m so proud to run on behalf of an organization that speaks for those that can’t and brings joy to the people that rescue fun, sweet, darling dogs from them. Join me AGAIN in supporting the to-be-adopted Blue Dogs as I run 26.2 FOR THEIR LIVES!

This is my third marathon for BDR! Running for dogs who need a forever home is one of the best things I’ve ever done! I ran the marathon twice before figuring out I could put all my effort to good use/ to mean something. Now, I wouldn’t consider running without committing to BDR!

I’m momma to two not-so-standard poodles, Mimi and Mari. And godmother to 4 awesome kiddos! And my wonderful husband is both my rock and my sag wagon!

I run because it is the one thing I do for myself. And I run for the dogs who need forever homes. I run for their lives and I am honored to do it!

I’m running because my rescue pooch, Oscar, silently coaches me and makes sure that I’m moving every day of the week – no exceptions! Every dog deserves a loving home, and Blue Dog makes that happen, one FURever home at a time!

1st Year

This is my first run for Blue Dog, my 6th Marathon (I am a slow poke though!). I am the proud owner of a rescue cat and a rescue Rotty; I adopted from an independent-1 woman-Austin Rotty Rescue. My dog Denali is truly the light of my life; she has taught me so many things about unconditional love, loyalty, and healing. I want to give back to other dogs & potential adopters, so that they can find homes and have the opportunity to share the amazing relationship between a dog and their family that I have been blessed with.

2nd Year

As a foster with Blue Dog Rescue, I think I can safely say I’ve got a soft spot for furry ones. The 17 dogs that have passed through my door over the past 3 years have certainly given me motivation to get up off the couch. They’ve been beside me throughout various stages of training. From my very first running mile to my first half marathon and my first triathlon. Some of their adopters have even taken part and taught me what it is to be an athlete. It is a privilege to be able to run for the dogs. They have brought me such joy in life, I don’t know who I would be without them.

This run is for Scallopini, Juniper, Myrna Loy, Flynn, Nora, Philippe, Seven, Laika, Kona, Margot, Snuffleupagus, Frida, Gretta, Muttley, Miss Scarlett, Eloise, Trudy and all the families that have loved them in my stead.

5th Year

I love dogs and I love running. In fact, I would not be a runner at all if it wasn’t for a dog and for BDR. Way back in 2008, when Blue Dog secured a spot in the Austin Marathon, I wanted to support them so I decided to try out the half marathon. My rescue dog, Lucky was my original running buddy for that race and after it, I was hooked. Two marathons and hundreds of miles later, I am an avid runner and Lucky is still my original training partner. This will be my fifth year to run for BDR and besides Lucky, I have another “special sidekick” on the running trail these days. I’m expecting my first baby in April so the goal this year will be to finish the half (walking is just fine with me) and raise as much as I can for Blue Dog. Go Blue Team!
